Colombia Miguel Medina Becerra

Miguel Medina Becerra is a key coffee producer in Huila, Colombia, who has worked to elevate the region as a leader in specialty coffee. His farm, El Progreso, is situated in La Lindosa, Palermo. There Miguel cultivates coffee varieties like Pink Bourbon and Geisha, Huila's most popular coffee varieties.

Miguel takes a very meticulous approach to farming. First, the cherries are allowed to fully develop on the tree. Then hired pickers go through and hand select the ripest cherries only. This ensures that only the highest quality fruit is harvested. During the wet milling, Miguel oversees the entire process, including weighing and de-pulping the cherries. This is followed by a 12 to 24 hour fermentation, allowing the coffee to develop its unique flavors. The beans are then dried in a marquesina for 15 days, allowing for even moisture reduction.
