The mills located near the town of Worka-Sakaro and its neighbor, Chelbesa produce coffees of elevated terroir brought about the impressive genetic diversity in coffee varieties found in the forests nearby. However, this lot from the Wuri washing station in particular is an exciting offering for us.
This experimental microlot begins as a high quality, fully-washed coffee. Once dried, the coffee is treated to extra sorting steps at the dry mill, including multiple additional passes in the color sorter and a longer, slower hand-removal of imperfections. The idea is to present a better-than-Grade 1 result, hence the grade “0”. These extra steps add cost, but tasting a near perfect example of a coffee from a region already known for elevated quality is a rare opportunity that every coffee lover should experience.
